Terre Haute Vice News was on the scene yesterday, July 30th, when the Terre Haute Police Department along with the Vigo County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police apprehended a suspected wanted in connection with the shooting of a teenager in Danville, Illinois.

News of a large police presence around the intersection of Erickson and Devonald started circulating through the community around 11:30AM, then ISP public information officer Matt Ames confirmed the search on his Facebook page.

The suspect was believed to be hiding in a cornfield and the THPD reported driving SRT vehicles through fields in an effort to locate the individual. Drone and helicopter assets were also utilized in the search.

Around 2:30PM it was announced that the suspect was in custody. The details of the crime the suspect is wanted in connection to were originally unknown, but it was been confirmed that it was related to a shooting in Danville, Illinois on July 26th.

According to Vermillion County First, “At approximately 1:00AM on Sunday, July 30, deputies responded to a report of a gunshot victim outside of a residence on East 11th Street in South Danville. Upon arrival, a 17 year-old male was located with a single gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an Urbana hospital for treatment.”

During the course of the investigation the Vermillion County Sheriff’s Department identified another 17 year-old male as the primary suspect and issued a warrant for his arrest.
