Multiple news outlets are now reporting that the Israeli military is using artificial-intelligence programs to select human targets within Gaza and to coordinate airstrikes at night when those targets are at home with their families.

Sources also indicated that these programs, titled “Lavender” and “Where’s Daddy,” were also approved despite having a 10% error rate. A key difference between Lavender and another widely reported program called “The Gospel” is that Gospel was used to identify structural targets.

According to reports these bombing efforts are often carried out with limited oversight by military personnel. And this news comes just days after an Israeli air strike killed seven humanitarian aid workers from the World Central Kitchen.

In a response from the Israeli military, officials denied that AI was used to identify targets.

The international community has already expressed outrage over civilian casualties in Gaza, which by some estimates could be over 20,000 women and children. If those numbers are accurate that would be 25 times as many civilians that were killed in the Hamas attacks on October 7th.
