According to public records obtained by Terre Haute Vice News, law enforcement responded to a distress call at 3991 E Moyer Drive, Vigo County on the night of April 18th. Trooper Courtland Woodruff of the State Police arrived at the scene following reports of potential domestic battery.
Upon arrival, Trooper Woodruff encountered a chaotic scene. Inside the residence, a male, later identified as Jon Mutchner, was heard yelling and causing property damage, while a female was reportedly pleading for calm during a frantic 911 call.
Woodruff’s attempts to diffuse the situation were met with resistance when Mutchner attempted to evade a pat-down for weapons, prompting a scuffle outside the residence. With the assistance of a Vigo County Deputy, Mutchner was eventually subdued and taken into custody.
Concerns for the female’s safety led Woodruff to clear the premises, where he found her visibly shaken. The female recounted a history of physical altercations with Mutchner, though she claimed he had not inflicted any injuries during the night’s ordeal.
Mutchner was subsequently transported to the Vigo County Jail pending charges related to the incident, although he required medical clearance at Regional Hospital due to minor abrasions sustained during the scuffle.
The case, designated with the number 84D04-2404-MC-001290, sheds light on the pervasive issue of domestic violence within our community. As investigations into the incident continue, authorities urge anyone experiencing domestic abuse to seek assistance or support services without hesitation.
