Vigo County school administrators and authorities are looking into a threat, reportedly posted by an anonymous account on SnapChat, at Otter Creek Middle School after an incident on Wednesday morning prompted a precautionary response.

Witnesses at the scene reported hearing an announcement over the school’s loudspeaker, confirming that while the school was secure, activities outside of the building, such as recess, had been suspended for the time being.

Vigo County School Corporation (VCSC) echoed similar sentiments in a public statement, emphasizing that the safety of students and staff remains their top priority. “VCSC Safety and Security and local law enforcement are currently investigating threats received at Otter Creek Middle School. As always, VCSC takes all threats seriously. An investigation is ongoing. At this time, students and staff are safe; the school is operating on a hold.”
