
According to a report in the Indianapolis Star, Indianapolis experienced multiple shootings from Friday into early Saturday, resulting in two fatalities and eight others injured.
The violence began when police responded to a domestic disturbance on Lewis Street, where Rayion Lamont Matthews, 24, was found critically injured from gunfire. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and a person of interest was taken into custody.
Later in the day, a woman was shot in front of a Wendy’s on East Washington Street. She was transported to a hospital in stable condition. Shortly after, a male victim was found shot on Egret Lane and taken to a hospital in stable condition, with the police report mentioning involvement of a parent or guardian.
Another shooting occurred on Black Knight Blvd, where a man was found injured but stable. In a separate incident on North Sherman Drive, a man was critically wounded, though no suspect information was available. Additionally, a male victim was shot on Warrior Trail and taken to the hospital in stable condition, with the police report again referencing a parent or guardian.
At Methodist Hospital, officers encountered two individuals with gunshot wounds, a man and a woman, both in stable condition. In the early hours of Saturday, a person walked into Community North Hospital with a gunshot wound and was reported to be stable.
The violence culminated in the discovery of a man fatally shot on East Washington Street. Police are continuing their investigation, with limited information available regarding suspects in several of the incidents.
