According to a report on the WANE 15 Fort Wayne website, two Connersville residents, Matthew Johnson and Christina Dixon, were found dead in the St. Marys River in Fort Wayne on September 20, 2024. Court records reveal they had been working as confidential informants for the Richmond Police Department, a role investigators believe may have led to their deaths.
Both individuals played a key role in a significant narcotics raid on September 10, where Richmond police confiscated a large quantity of drugs. The suspect arrested in connection with the raid is now a witness in the case.
Authorities believe Dominique Washington, who had ties to the arrested drug dealer, abducted Johnson and Dixon on September 19. Detectives allege Washington lured them into a vehicle, instructed them to turn off their phones, and switched vehicles before killing them and dumping their bodies in the river.
Law enforcement tracked Washington’s movements through traffic cameras and cellphone records. He was arrested during a traffic stop, following a raid on his home by Indiana State Police SWAT and local police units. Washington is currently being held in Allen County Jail, facing charges including murder and kidnapping.
Authorities expect further arrests as the investigation unfolds. Washington has been formally charged with murder.
