According to the IndyStar, Indiana’s Choice Scholarship Program spent $497 million state dollars for children to attend private schools during the 2024-2025 school year. That figure represented a $58 million dollar increase from 2023-2024.
In 2023 state legislators increased the annual income to qualify for the program to an annual income of $237,910, and based on legislation passed this year the income requirement will be removed starting in June of 2026.
The program has seen over a 40% increase in participation over the past two years with over 76,000 students. The report also included participation by household income, and the largest increase was seen in incomes over $200,000 and the largest decrease was incomes under $100,00.
The schools receiving the most money from the program were two religious schools in Indianapolis, Roncalli High School with $5,651,614 and Heritage Christian School with $5,697,075.
