According to multiple news outlets in Evansville, Indiana, a case manager for the Indiana Department of Child Services has been arrested for filing false reports about family visits she had allegedly not made.

35 year old Sara Woods has been charged with one felony count of official misconduct, and three misdemeanor counts of obstruction of a child abuse assessment.

WEVV news quoted authorities as reporting that, “Wood had been employed as a Family Case Manager for Indiana DCS since October 2021, but her employment ended in April 2024.”

The Evansville Courier & Press article on the case contains extensive excerpts from court documents detailing the Indiana’s Office of Inspector General’s investigation into the case.

These records include testimony from family members, whom Woods had claimed to have met with, but told investigators they had never seen her before.

If you suspect a child is being abused or neglected, you can call Indiana’s Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline at 1-800-800-5556. If you have questions about the actions of a DCS employee, you can contact the agency’s ombudsman toll free at 877-682-0101.

One response to “DCS case manager arrested for lying about family visits”

  1. I think they need to investigate a whole lot more of their people. Not just in Evansville either. Too many kids, not enough honest, good people willing to do these types of jobs.
