According to WTHR Indianapolis, Judge Dale Arnett is facing legal actions in response to complaints about his supervision of a Randolph County court. One allegation reportedly resulted in a man being held for 227 days in jail without receiving an initial hearing.

Other accusations included multiple criminal cases being dismissed due to the judge’s inaction. The Indiana Commission on Judicial Qualifications has filed these charges with the Indiana Supreme Court, and Arnett is currently on a leave of absence.

Arnett is being charged with failure to set timely hearings, failure to take timely action on criminal cases, causing delayed judgements and convictions, failure to resolve issues prior to investigation, and delaying civil cases involving children.

According to the Indiana Judicial Branch’s press release, “the commission has (also) filed a Verified Petition for Interim Suspension, requesting that the Supreme Court issue an order suspending Judge Arnett from his judicial duties with pay while this matter is pending.”
