According to an article published in the Greene County Daily World Joey Hart, longtime coach of the Linton Miners basketball team was arrested by the Clay County Sheriff’s department at approximately 4:15 am on Saturday, December 31st.
The article went on to describe the preliminary charges as public intoxication and included a quote from the Clay County Jail which stated Hart, “was taken to the Clay County Jail with bond set at $3,000. As of 1 p.m. on Saturday, he had not posted bail.”
Reports on local news radio have indicated that Hart was found unconscious in a vehicle parked on a road near Coalmont, a small town about halfway between Terre Haute and Linton.

Hart had recently coached the Miners to their first ever Wabash Valley Classic Championship, and had also set a state record for 10 straight years with at least 20 wins each season.
The Daily World story also mentioned that an emergency executive session of the Linton-Stockton School Board was held on Monday, January 2nd, but no details from that meeting have been released.
