Community members gathered Friday for a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of Veterans Village, a new housing project designed to help local veterans experiencing homelessness.

The project includes six tiny homes and was led by the Terre Haute Area Association of Realtors with support from volunteers, donors and community partners.

Veterans Village is intended to provide more than temporary shelter. Organizers say the development will give veterans a stable place to live while helping connect them with services and additional community support.

Local business and community representatives attended the ceremony to recognize those who helped bring the project to completion.
