A memo posted by the city of Terre Haute announcing the closing of Club Soda was recently shared on the Terre Haute Chatter Facebook group resulting in over two hundred reactions, more than a hundred comments, and a lot of speculation.

The notice, which has been confirmed by the director of public works and safety, states that the buildings have been declared unsafe (primarily due to water being shut off at the site) and residents will be required to vacate by September 21, 2026.

According to the city, officials have worked with director Kevin Ball to address several financial and safety concerns at the location, but those problems have not been adequately addressed, which has resulted in the city’s decision to force the closure.

When THVN visited the site it appeared power was on at the building. A source from Club Soda stated that the water was on (which was not confirmed), that there were currently twenty four residents, and that they did not intend to vacate.

Public records and local reporting show that there is currently $10,597 owed in taxes and that the fire and health department had previously required $30,000 worth of work to be done in upgrades. It is not known at this time whether that work was completed.

Records also indicate that the facility was sold in a tax sale last year and is nearing the end of it’s one year redemption period. Terre Haute Vice News has submitted records requests to identify the party who made the purchase, and will update this story when that information becomes available.
